Reading Intervention
Better Basics Reading Intervention teachers deliver robust reading instruction in small groups of three to four students. Reading Intervention positions students to reach grade level on state testing. We expect students to improve reading skills by at least one grade level.
In 2022-2023, students participating in our Reading Intervention program demonstrated a 1.37-grade level reading skills advancement.
Reading Mentors
Elementary students whose skill levels are too low to qualify for Reading Intervention are partnered with trained volunteers to develop foundational reading skills. Our goal is for students to reach the 25th percentile in state testing and improve reading fluency by at least 20%.
