The Motivators of Reading Enrichment (MORE) program encourages fourth-grade students to read for pleasure, which ultimately improves their test scores and helps them develop confidence as readers.  Better Basics provides each participating classroom with a mini-library of 55 books.  Teachers give the students 30 minutes to read and complete book reports each day. Once a week, the volunteer visits the classroom to collect book reports, motivate the students, and reward the students for reading.  Every child who successfully completes a book report wins a book as a prize to take home.

Many children do not read for pleasure simply because no reading material is available in the home.  The MORE program distributes over 35,000 books annually to help solve this problem.  One teacher commented, "The MORE program has been the single best tool for my students' reading success."
